The most daring and technically complex of the Hulot films, Jaques Tati sends his beloved alter ego, the wonderfully hapless Monsieur Hulot off to make an appointment with an official in an office complex in Paris. Along with a group of American tourists who have come to discover Paris, Hulot roams around the city; he meets an old friend at an aquarium-like apartment, goes to an exhibition of new inventions, wreaks havoc in a snooty new restaurant, and almost falls in love. Winner of the 1969 Bodil Award for Best European Film, this monumental, visionary work is often considered Jacques Tati’s crowning achievement.
